Last Post

1. The creature from the black lagoon!?? Richard in the shower at our apartment in Cairns. Rather strange with the glass window next to the kitchen - could put you off your food.

2. Me engrossed in a paperback on the train from Cairns to Brisbane - a journey of 39.5 hours. There is a faster train, but no sleeper.

3. Me holding hands with the Drovers, a sculpture - one of many - on the streets of Brisbane.

4. Richard enjoying the high life in the Business Lounge of Emirates in Sydney. The food was good and the wine etc also!

Me

1. Me testing the water at the Great Barrier Reef. I watched some fish for a bit, but didn't venture any further! - not very brave where water is concerned, even though it was quite a nice temperature! It was a very nice day at the reef though

2. On the sky train from near Cairns to Kuranda. It's a 7.5 km cable car ride and was very slow today due to the windy conditions. The sky train goes over the top of the rain forest and it is amazing to see all the different trees and the ferns etc which are growing on them. There is also red misletoe - would make a change at Christmas!

Tropical animals and fish

1. Saw this metre long lizard at the side of the path walking through the rainforest.

2. Look really hard and you will see a 3 metre saltie croc on the riverbank

3. Great Barrier Reef corals and yes, the sea was this colour.

4. A nice big fish for tea! We also saw turtles and had a go at handling sea cucumbers, one was dark green/black and spiky and felt like rubber to me.

Tropical animals

1. Me making friends with a water python - all say aaaahh! not UUUGH

2. A cassowary - ugly things

3. A Red Kangaroo - the only other one I saw was dead on the road

4. Stinger notices at a beach we visited, regarding deadly box jellyfish, which are usually on the shoreline. One of the empty bottles on the floor has contained the vinegar you need to pour over the sting to get the tentacles off.

Alice to Cairns 2

1. Sunrise over the windmill and water tank at Wirrelyena Cattle Station where we overnighted.

2. Richard horsing around outside the Middleton Hotel at Middleton - Population 6, which includes 3 dogs!

3. Luckily no feet in the trough - everyone tucking into their Barby at Carisbroke Shearing Shed. We all mucked in to get it ready and it was very nice too.

4. Not all roads are dry and dusty. This was in Queensland on the way to Cairns - quite a few creeks and rivers flow over the roads.

Alice to Cairns 1

1. This is a picture taken at Desert Park in Alice Springs - it is a buzzard using stones to break open an emu egg - fascinating to see.

3. What about this for a giant termite mound - over 5 metres high

4. Me and him on the dusty road to nowhere with only a drop of water between us! Not really, we walked up the road from the bus while the driver tried to ment the door which kept shaking open - and yes it was as hot as it looks.
